Installation & Replacement Guide

Before replacing the T&PR valve, ensure you never install a valve rated higher than specified on the heater’s rating plate. Also, avoid using reconditioned valves, as they may compromise safety and performance.

Step-by-Step Replacement Process

1. Partially drain the water heater. (Refer to “Draining the Water Heater” in the user manual, page 29.)
2. Remove the drain line connected to the T&PR valve.
3. Unscrew and remove the existing T&PR valve.
4. Verify the replacement valve’s rating matches the heater’s specifications.
5. Apply thread tape and securely refit the new T&PR valve.
6. Reconnect the drain line to the newly installed valve.
7. Close the hot tap and restore the water supply.
8. Inspect for leaks around the valve connection.
9. Operate the T&PR valve lever to reset the relief drain.
10. Purge air from the system by opening the hot taps.
11. Restore power to the water heater.
